Deon Mc Carthy

Deon McCarthy is a retired Master Sergeant and Combat Veteran with 30 years of service in the United States Army. He has deployed multiple times starting with Desert Shield, including tours to Afghanistan, Bosnia and Iraq. As an accomplished leader, he hopes to teach others what to expect in their own Soldier journeys. He hopes his words will inspire a whole new generation of strength and discipline-minded people. His motto is: There are never failures, just opportunities to learn and mature as a Christian; a Man; a Father; a Soldier……a Leader! In his down time he enjoys playing chess, bowling, and writing his next book of the Beginning to Endex series.

I was quite fascinated by the style of this narrative. It's based on a true story yet the creative style of narration makes it sound almost fictional. I would love to reread if I get time. Who said that true stories couldn't be made fun? This sounds like a true story I wouldn't find monotonous to hear due to the creativity.

Part 1 and 2 are very well written and easy to read. Although I am miles apart and never met the author I feel I know him. From a young man to a soldier this book depicts the true emotions of a Soldier. Thanks E A.K.A FNG.

Just finished reading the book and I have to say it is a great read!!! From Chicago to the desert to the snow and more, I felt inspired by Mr. Deon McCarthy's journey. And I was even more honored to serve with him with 6-6th CAV in Fort Drum, NY. He was a great 1st Sergeant and an excellent role model to troops everywhere!!! So please, read his story, because he is an excellent example of a Christian, Father, leader and a man!!!
